‘BLOOMING IN ABUNDANCE’

NEW IMAGES FOR THE ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN BLOEMENBUREAU HOLLAND

August, the beautiful month which marks the last breaths of Summer, called ‘Indian summer’ with the abundant blooming of enormous varieties of hydrangeas, one of my favorite flowers. The charming large bulging flower heads with small star-shaped flowers always amaze me. With their mildly sweet scent it is both in house and outside an abundant flowering eye-catcher, with large flowers and beautiful green leaves. The well known pink, blue or white bulbs, plumes and bouquets blast out of front gardens. Such a well-loved garden and pot plant, especially because of it tremendously abundant flowering.

Not only in color versatile, also in shape it shows her blooms in many ways. There are spherical hydrangeas, hydrangeas with small flowers in the middle and large leaves at the edge or a bulky shape. Her chic name Hydrangea comes from ‘hydro’ (water) and ‘angeion’ (jar). The shape of the hydrangea, reminds of an old pitcher.

The colors of hydrangeas symbolize love, harmony and peace. Colorful big blooms in the red, pink, purple, white, green and blue variant, and even hydrangeas that are multi-color. The pink hydrangea has risen in popularity all over the world, but especially in Asia. Pink hydrangeas have many different meanings, but generally mean, “You are the beat of my heart,” as described by the celebrated Asian florist Tan Jun Yong, where he was quoted saying, “The light delicate blush of the petals reminds me of a beating heart, while the size could only match the heart of the sender!”

‘A CELEBRATION OF SPRING’

Spring deserves to be celebrated. And what better way than to do it exuberantly with ranunculus, the springflower ‘pur sang’ This delicate beauty is available in white, yellow, orange, pink, red and purple. Its petals open up piece by piece, so you can slowly day by day see more and more of her beautiful heart.

Did you know that the buttercup symbolizes charm? When someone gifted a ranunculus in Victorian times, then he said: “I think you’re full of attractions. Oh, those were the romantic days…

‘FLOWERGIRL’

NEW WORK FOR ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN OF BLOEMENBUREAU HOLLAND

After our first collaboration with Bloemenbureau Holland in 2016 we were more than honored to be asked to be their ‘flowergirl’ which means styling and shooting images during a year for a special advertising campaign which focusses on the different seasons Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, all with their own special flowers.

So this January it started with the tulip. This always cheerful beauty is available in any color, from white, red, yellow, pink, purple, orange, green or multi-colored petals. Also, the shapes of the tulip be a joy to the eye. You can find them with a single or double row of petals, and there are also striking franje- and parrot tulips with jagged petals.

The beauties we used in our shoot had the most lovely pink blushy tone, and ruffled edges at the end of the petals.

When you gave tulips as a present in the sixteenth century, you gave wealth. At that time the flower was in fact immensely popular and there was a speculative trade in tulip bulbs. For the price of a single tulip bulb you could buy an entire canal house in Amsterdam. This bunch of beauties would have meant an entire street;-)!

‘MY FAVORITE FLOWER’

FOR THE NEW ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN OF BLOEMENBUREAU HOLLAND

Last week we were asked to collaborate and shoot an image for a new advertising campaign for Bloemenbureau Holland, called #lievelingsbloem or ‘My favorite flower’. Since nature and flowers are one of our biggest inspirations that was an absolute dreamjob to style and shoot. Lucky us, we just got a lovely gift that week after a shoot in Amsterdam, so these colchicum bulbs, one of Autumn delights’ for sure, were perfect for this occasion. Not only because of their promising beauty, but also as a reminder that sometimes on the least expected moments in life you’re fortunate enough to meet people that give you wings…

Summer eve wanderings…

Looking back on June, one of my favorite months of the year, as a beautiful month filled with new adventures and wanderings. Not only in my garden, with the arrival of the beautiful roses with their divine scent and enchanting names as ‘Nina Renaissance’ and ‘Ghislaine de Feligonde’, but also with a wonderful evening wandering through an empty concerthall in Amsterdam. We got the opportunity with 20 other Instagrammers to visit this grand historical building which houses 128 years of classical music history. We got to see the backstage rooms where the conductor has his final moments before entering the personal elevator leading him to the big stage of the main hall and all the musicians of the orchestra rehears with their violin, cello and piano before playing their part of the symphony…

A PILLOW OF DREAMS…

At this moment, late Spring is showing her beauty in all ways possible. With one of Springs’ most delightful flowers ever, and my absolute favorites, white peonies. Can’t get over their delicate layers of loveliness. They inspire me in so many ways, with their soft color, lushy blossoms and gentle scent. I made a few images to capture the memories attached. For a pillow of dreams for days to come…

SPRING’S FIRST DELIGHTS

Every year it’s showing her first delightful signs of Spring, the decades old Camelia in my dad’s garden. Planted about 30 years ago and every year putting up a big show with lush red flowers elegant dangling in dark shiny green leaves. For weeks at a time it brightens up the cold February days…
